Grab your paddle and join us for the annual Altamaha River Canoe & Kayak Excursion—a fun and scenic 12-mile journey from Towns Bluff Landing to Deens Landing on the mighty Altamaha River. Bring the whole family and enjoy a leisurely day on one of Georgia’s most breathtaking natural treasures.
Named one of the 75 Last Great Places on Earth by The Nature Conservancy, the Altamaha River winds through bottomland forests, cypress swamps, and tidal marshes, home to a diverse array of wildlife including egrets, white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, turtles, and even rare freshwater mussels.
This early summer paddle offers warm breezes, lush scenery, and a chance to connect with the natural beauty of our region. Midway through the paddle, we’ll stop for a delicious lunch at the iconic Benton Lee’s Steakhouse, a local favorite known for its riverside charm and hearty Southern fare.
What to Bring: Canoes, kayaks, boats, jet skis, life jackets, sunscreen, and plenty of water.
What’s Included: A memorable river adventure and a hearty lunch at Benton Lee’s.
Come experience the magic of the Altamaha with fellow paddlers during one of our most popular outdoor events—the 2025 River Rat Run!
